Meet Kato Adrian!

Hello from the South!  We have reached Oklahoma, the second to last state on this amazing adventure!  Contrary to what we thought, it is not warm and our winter gear is still coming in handy.  We are looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving next week and can hardly believe that December 10 is right around the corner.  Time flies when you’re having fun!

I’d like to introduce another member of our choir this week.  Meet Kato Adrian!  Adrian is 9 years old and is the youngest member of our choir.

Adrian is an all around all-star during our performances.  He is the only boy to dance every dance, sings his heart out on every song and plays a very convincing embogo (buffalo) in our hunting folk song, Fumita Embogo.  Never to be outdone by the big boys, Adrian spends a lot of his free time learning the drum and xylophone parts.  We often get comments after performances about that ‘cute, little boy in the front,” with his sweet, impish smile, Adrian definitely shines on stage.

We often refer to Adrian as our ‘American boy,’ because of how quickly he adapted to things in America.  He is one of our best English speakers and is one of the more adventurous kids when it comes to trying new things.   Adrian loves to play with his friends, ride bikes, swim and play video games.  Adrian’s favorite movies are the Chronicles of Narnia.  He especially loves Aslan the lion because ‘he represents Jesus.’  Adrian also loves school.  He is our only child in Primary 3 but he excels in every subject.

Adrian’s favorite foods are pancakes, hot dogs and ice cream.  In Uganda he loves to eat sweet potatoes.  Adrian loves to be in America and enjoys performing in the choir but he does miss his friends in Uganda.  Adrian has especially enjoyed the state of Montana and Seattle, Washington.

We love Adrian so much and thank God for his place in our choir.  Adrian is one of the sweetest little boys you will ever meet.  His curiosity of the world, his sweet spirit and his innocence endear him to hearts everywhere we go.  In this country where we are constantly pressuring our kids to grow up fast, Adrian’s childlike and playful spirit remind us of what is important in life.  This is the time of year that we focus on the baby who was sent to save us, may we also remember the other innocent children of the world.  Please visit the Childcare Worldwide website for ways that you can help this holiday season.
